The Dalitso Project
Since 2013 we have been sending a 40 foot container of donated items to Malawi to our centres in time for Christmas. In 2019 we managed to fundraise enough money to send 2 containers with the first in the spring and the second in the autumn of 2019 (arrived January 2020). This year we will send our usual autumn container and hope that in 2021 we may manage to send a second container again!
This container has contained everything from kids clothes to medical equipment, toys to school desks and mattresses, material to jotters and paper, carpentry tools to mobile phones!
A massive thanks to all the individuals who have donated kids clothes, bikes and toys, the football teams who have donated balls and strips, all the schools who have donated school textbooks and desks, all the hospitals who have donated walking aids, medical equipment and medication and of course all the private companies who have donated various materials for our container! You are all amazing!
But possibly the most exciting thing that is shipped every year to each one of our nearly 400 children and 40 staff are the Christmas presents, (either from their sponsor or from the Dalitso team). It will come as no surprise to find out that the kids look forward to their presents for months beforehand!
With the opening of the Dochas Medical Centre, these containers (although expensive) should actually save us money, thanks to the reusing of many items that can no longer be used here in the UK!
If you have anything that you want to donate or think may be of benefit please do not hesitate to get in contact with us! We would love to hear from you!

The container allows us to give aid quickly and at a lower cost for our limited resources. It also saves wastage here in the UK!
In February 2018, a visiting team noticed a few small children in the fields helping their mother with the planting of some maize.
The children were very poor and after some enquiries it was found out that the home situation of these children was very poor indeed. They literally had no food and no clothes.
We were able to provide the children immediately with some clothes and blankets from the container and support them with food and education each day to ease the burden on their mother. We were also able to help the mother with maize and fertiliser for her following years harvest. This is the benefit of having a container on hand!
